Blog Post #18- The start
The start of production.
When thinking about starting to film, you need to take into consideration filming locations, the plot, characters, camera shots and lighting. When filming, the weather plays a huge part in the mood a scene is supposed to show. If you are trying to make a happy scene you do not want the weather to be gloomy, cloudy or rainy. However, if the scene is meant to be sad then you would want the weather to be cloudy not sunny.
Before filming and making a script, I want to come up with a general plot. When I think about what I want my film to be I think about my actors and how I can apply them into the scenes.
This screenshot was taken from my former media studies assignment.
For the beginning, I want to open up with my protagonist in her bed rolling over when her alarm goes off and hitting snooze. This will then cut to show her getting ready for the day with background music instead of dialogue. To make this scene look more realistic I want to make my protagonist have bed head, darker eye circles and attempt to make puffy eyes.
Typically, when you wake up you do not immediately surround yourself with people or wake up and start a conversation. To attempt to make this scene more realistic I do not want my protagonist to wake up and start talking to people, hence the reason I will not include dialogue for the first couple seconds.
When it comes to the costuming my protagonist will be in pajamas. The costuming is so important in this scene. This way audience members know that the protagonist is just waking up. However, when I refer to pajamas, I do not mean silk, pajama suits. I intended to have my protagonist waking up in sweatpants or shorts. An oversized t-shirt with no jewelry or things like that.
