Blog post #5- Greta Gerwig

Greta Gerwig is an American actress, writer and director who is well known for directing the movies "Lady Bird", "Little Women" and "Barbie". Those movies are examples of teen films and relate to the genre inspiring my movies. "Little Women" is a coming of age, romance and drama. "Barbie" is a drama and romance. And "Lady Bird" is a romance, coming of age and teen genre similar to my movie opening. 

The film "Little Women" released in 2019, is centered around 4 sisters and their lives. Throughout the movie it shows romance, drama along with the struggles of being a girl. During the movie they show the expectations that women are held to and show how the four March sisters experience girlhood. "Little Women" was the main reason on how I knew who Greta Gerwig was. Once I found this movie, I realized that Greta Gerwig is very talented, and I enjoy her writing. The raw emotion and the way her films are well put together inspire what I want my opening to be. I want there to be a flow, so the people understand there's more to the opening. 

Another famous project from Greta Gerwig is the 2023 "Barbie" movie. This movie is about a plastic doll experiencing the reality of girlhood and real life. During this movie, Greta Gerwig did a phenomenal job at expressing the reality of being a girl. This movie falls under the category of romance and drama which is the same genres as my opening. When it comes to the "Barbie" movie and my opening I want to demonstrate the expectations women are held to the same way "Barbie" did. 

Greta Gerwig is a talented screenwriter and director who is very talented. When she directs the movies and comes up with the screenplay, they have a nice flow to them. I want to compare my opening to her talent by making a flow so the audience watching has an understanding that the movie doesn't end there and there's more to it.
