Blog Post #22- Opening scene costume

In my opening scene, this is the outfit that my protagonist will be wearing.

I have my protagonist wearing a lazy, comfortable outfit to help with symbolizing that she is drained and has no motivation. The protagonist might have a hoodie on with the outfit as a sign that she is trying to hide something. Usually when someone wears baggy and loose clothes over skintight ones, they are almost insecure about their body. Loose clothes do not squeeze into your body as much as tight ones do. The protagonist is meant to be insecure and lonely so baggy and oversized clothes will fit the scene.

Dark colors will also play a part in my protagonist style and costuming. My protagonist is meant to come off as a sad and lonely person. She is supposed to be a person with no motivation and feels that nobody is there for her. The costuming in this scene is a big part in my film because it is the first scene, and the first thing viewers will see. This sets a big part of my film.

From the very beginning of my film, I want my audience members to know this will not be a happy laughing movie. It will shine light on the reality of teenagers and how it is not always easy. This opening scene sets the tone throughout the rest of the opening, so every little detail plays an important role.
