Blog Post #23- Over the shoulder
In my film during my opening scene, I have an over the shoulder shot. I used the over the shoulder shot to show her in the mirror getting ready. The mirror is lite up so that the audience members will focus their attention on the mirror. This just helps to signify that Mia is the protagonist.
In this shot Mia is getting ready for her day but she is not happy. Her desk is dirty, and she is moving slow. Throughout the scene I have a song playing overhead instead of her speaking with dialogue. I have the song playing overhead instead of dialogue because I want this to be realistic.
The over the shoulder shot allows me to show more in the background rather than just a close up of my protagonist face. This gives me more to work with and gives me a lot more flexibility. In this scene you can see the dirty, unorganized desk with the protagonist still being lite up in the middle.
