Blog Post #25- 13 going on 30

The movie "13 going on 30" is a movie where this thirteen-year-old girl hosts a birthday party, she gets embarrassed and wishes to be older. She then wakes up and she is thirty years old. Throughout the movie she adjusts to what her life now is.

I am using this movie to compare to mine because it has a similar plot my movie has. The only difference between this movie and my plot is that my protagonist is going to wake up as a different teenage girl rather than thirty-year-old women. I have recently watched this movie which gave me a bit of that push to come up with the ending of my film opening. This creates a whole new plot that can be worked with but also helps with demonstrating the realistic life of a teenage girl in high school.

Sometimes, when life gets hard and complicated people wish for things to be different. Or if you are jealous of someone you wish that you could be them. When I say that my protagonist is going to wake up a new person, I do not mean that she will wake up in the same room and just a different person, or that she will wake up as the same person just in a different room. My protagonist is going to wake up as a whole new person and in a whole new room.

During the opening I am going to have my protagonist jealous of the girl she wakes up as. Meaning that in my film, my protagonist is going to see that girl and wish she was her. The girl will seem to have a perfect family life, friends, body and she is just successful in general. This way the film connects in a way, and it makes a more flexible ending for fans to come up with.
