Blog Post #51- Sound Overlay

Throughout the film, there are two parts where I need to include a sound overlay. During these cuts, the character in the scene has a piece of dialogue but the music does not get cut out. To do this, I had to separate the clip of music from the whole track, lower the volume and then add in the dialogue.

This is a screenshot from the first shot:

This is how it came out:
In that first cut my protagonist says "I wish I wasn't me" then she goes to sleep. During that piece of dialogue, so my audience members can understand her more, I lowered the volume. This way you can still hear it and it will not block out the dialogue.

This is a screenshot from the second cut:

This is how it came out:

In this scene my actress goes to the bathroom and fully processes that she is in a different body as a different person. While this scene technically has no words coming out the mouth, there is still a noise other than the music that is meant to be heard. To make this heard I cut the song in three clips. By doing this I changed the volume on all three where the sound is slightly decreasing as an attempt to have the songs fade and come together.
